Joy has a background in biomedical sciences and earned her PhD at Hasselt University. Yet, she found her true calling in a completely different world: digital solutions and IT projects. Since March 2025, she has been the link between client and developer at Deuse.
As a product owner and project manager, Joy ensures that every project runs smoothly. She translates client needs into clear instructions for the development team, keeps an eye on budgets and deadlines, and oversees the entire process from A to Z.
I love the mix between strategy and content: as a project manager, I oversee the bigger picture, while as a product owner, I dive deep into the details. That combination is what makes the job so interesting.

Do you have a favourite type of project?
Because of my medical background, I feel especially drawn to projects in the medical sector. Although I haven’t worked on any at Deuse yet, I would love to do so. What I already find very exciting are the sports-related apps – both web and mobile – that we’ve developed. They align perfectly with my interests.
Which project stood out to you since you started at Deuse?
Honection was a particularly inspiring project. It was launched by a former professional football player who wants to bring transparency to the world of transfers. Instead of becoming a coach, he chose to develop a digital solution to help footballers with their careers. It was great to be part of that.
What do you enjoy about your work?
What I love most about my job is the variety. I’m both a project manager and a product owner, and it’s exactly that combination that makes the work so engaging. In many companies, these are two separate roles, but at Deuse, I get the opportunity to do both. As a project manager, I keep an overview: I monitor the planning, track the budget, and make sure everything runs smoothly. As a product owner, I dive deeper into the content: I translate the client’s needs into concrete instructions for the team. That alternation between strategic thinking and hands-on involvement gives me a lot of satisfaction.
